What is covered
Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period and conditions, which are usually listed in the product description or the product manual. Warranties generally cover faults in materials and manufacturing under normal commercial use. They generally do not cover:
- damage caused during installation, or installation not done by a licensed tradesperson where one is required;
- misuse, accidents, power surges, incorrect gas or power supply, or use against the manufacturer’s instructions;
- lack of cleaning or maintenance, such as blocked condenser coils or scale build-up;
- normal wear and tear and consumable parts, such as globes, seals, filters and knobs;
- repairs or changes made by anyone not approved by the manufacturer.
How to make a warranty claim
- Contact us: email sales@restaurantessentials.com.au or call 0493 843 848 with your order number, the product, a description of the problem and photos or a short video.
- Troubleshooting: we may ask you to check a few simple things first, as many issues can be fixed quickly over the phone.
- Assessment: if the problem continues, we arrange for the manufacturer or an approved technician to assess the equipment.
- Repair or replacement: faults covered by warranty are repaired or the item is replaced, as decided by the manufacturer and in line with your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
On-site and back-to-base warranty
Larger equipment is usually repaired on site by an approved technician. Smaller benchtop items may have a back-to-base warranty, which means the item needs to be sent to the manufacturer’s service centre for repair. We will tell you which applies when you make a claim.
Using your own technician
Please contact us before arranging your own technician. Repairs by an unapproved technician can void the manufacturer’s warranty, and we may not be able to cover the cost.
Damage on delivery
Damage that happens in transit is not a warranty claim. Please report it within 2 business days of delivery, as explained on our Returns & Refunds page.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The manufacturer’s warranty is in addition to these rights.
A major failure is usually a problem that would have stopped you buying the product if you had known about it, or one that makes the product unsafe or unfit for its purpose and cannot easily be fixed. For a minor problem, the business can choose to repair it within a reasonable time. You can read more on the ACCC website.
